In Lecco, the capital of the Lombardy province of the same name, the relationship between the city centre and its surroundings and the resource water is the central theme. These include keeping Lago di Lecco clean, reducing water consumption and raising awareness of the vital resource of drinking water from the public water supply system. In addition to issues relating to mobility, waste and water, the city is also devoting itself to other future topics. These include: Promotion of renewable forms of energy, valorisation of the cultural landscape in the area of the core city and the surrounding area, reduction of landscape consumption and promotion of sustainable land use.

Several issues to which the town of Lecco is dedicated and which are of interest to
Alpine Convention protocols are of relevance. On the one hand, the initiatives to raise awareness in local mobility behaviour - especially
Young people (e.g. Initiative Piedibus). On the other hand the waste separation and recycling as well as the touristic positioning of Lecco as a mountain town (on the lake) with the claim
sustainable development strategies. The continuation of the tradition of the alpine school and its culture was also convincing.
