Exciting programme in Cuneo
Culture, exchange and Alpine identity: the city of Cuneo in Piedmont is celebrating its title of Alpine Town of the Year 2024 as part of the Cuneo Montagna Festival (Mountain Festival) with the motto “AnimAlpina”.
Between 14 and 19 May, mountain enthusiasts and Alpine friends will meet there to enjoy a varied programme and discuss Alpine topics. On Friday afternoon, 17 May, after the general meeting of the Alpine Town of the Year Association at 2 pm, a public workshop will take place in the Cuneo Spazio Incontri of the Fondazione CRC, which will focus entirely on urban-rural relations. In addition to inputs from experts, representatives of the Alpine towns will report on successful activities and collaborations with their surrounding areas. The workshop will be simultaneously interpreted into all the main Alpine languages.
On the evening of 17 May, the “Alpine Town of the Year” award ceremony will take place. “We are drawing a common thread through the Alpine Town Year, which is intended to emphasise this Alpine spirit,” explains Councillor Sara Tomatis. “It’s about discovering and showing how much all of our lives are centred on the mountains and how the geographical location of our town has an impact in cultural, economic, sporting and gastronomic terms.”
