In 2005, Sonthofen was named Alpine Town of the Year for its outstanding commitment to sustainable urban development β a title that still has an impact today. To mark the anniversary year, a festive ceremony was held at the AlpenStadtMuseum in mid-April.
The newly published report from AlpWeek 2024 highlights key discussions and strategies for ensuring a sustainable future for the Alpine region. Held in Nova Gorica/SL the event gathered over 200 participants from politics, research, non-profits, and civil society under the theme βAlps in Our Handsβ.
Alpine Town of the Year association engaging on the basis of Alpine convention stands for cooperation, mutual learning and constant improvement with the aim of increasing our citizens quality of life.
The title "Alpine Town of the year" has become a trademark and a concept of quality for our town Sonthofen. The "we" feeling, which was created by the involvement of the population, still has an effect in many activities today.
The network strengthens the position of the individual cities. This enables them to make their voice heard on an international level.
